It’s Not Goodbye, Only Farewell | The Hotel Experience

by Kevin Gaffney

NEW YORK, NY – HX: The Hotel Experience Powered by AAHOA is just a couple of weeks in the rearview mirror, but a look back elicits a smile and a nod of the head. Alongside the co-location with Boutique Design New York, the show was an undeniably vibrant event. My gratitude goes out to the attendees, exhibitors, and members of AAHOA who made this event special.

The official name of HX includes “powered by AAHOA” for a reason. Officials at the association elevated the educational offerings and brought relevance, knowledge, and the all important ingredient of inspiration. Networking events such as the Young Professionals Reception at Yotel added the special sauce of friendship and commiseration.

We may live in a digital age, but human connection is more important than ever. We see this in the enthusiasm at trade shows such as HX. Smiles, handshakes, and in-person demonstrations of products and solutions only solidify learning and understanding.

After all, travel is an experience. Members of the hospitality industry, perhaps more than most, know the importance of being there. If you weren’t there this time around, you may want to mark your calendar for Nov 8-9, 2020, when we’ll all be back at the Javits Center.

As group show director, I know that the success of any show is built on people—the attendees, show staff, and exhibitors. Your participation is appreciated, valued, and makes it all possible. I look forward to seeing you next year once again in the Big Apple.
