NEW YORK, N.Y. – Boutique Design New York (BDNY) once again co-located with HX: The Hotel Experience last month at the Javits Center in New York. The following is a sampling of reactions from BDNY exhibitors.
“BDNY is amazing. We are seeing a lot of people from the northeast, plus Texas and Florida. Everybody is asking serious questions while they navigate being back in person.” — Caitlyn Murray, account executive, Paradigm Trends, New York
“BDNY has been amazing. We went really bold with our booth and people are interested in what we do. We like the New York location.” — Dani Sacco (pictured, right), sales rep, Sacco Carpet, N.Y. and London
“I am pleasantly surprised by BDNY. The quality of the attendees is really good. It’s not just junior design people. In fact, the quality of the attendees has been awesome.” — John Mattson, vice president of Sales, Tropitone, Irvine, Calif.
“Overall, day one was very good. There is a large mix of people with many design firms coming to the show together as a group, and there are decision makers.” — Michael Alidadi, Apadana Fine Rugs, Norwalk, Conn.
“We’ve had a good show. The traffic has been good and the quality of the people has been strong. Normally you get a lot of tire kickers, but we are seeing mostly decision makers. I’ve seen more principals than not.” — Pride Sasser, owner, Terrestre Surfaces & Alchemy, Morganton, N.C.
“The show has been good. We’ve had a lot of qualified leads. The design firms get us multiple different contacts. A representative from Marriott stopped by today.” — Emily Osteen, Innovative Hospitality Concepts Inc., Coral Springs, Fla.
“It has been an absolute delight in getting steps back to normal. The show has had a really good turnout and it has been a successful show. We’ve seen very qualified attendees. In other years, there have been too many lookers, but this time we’ve seen qualified buyers and decision makers.” — Brian Hedden, Frameworks, Miami, Fla.
“We were prepared for the show to be smaller, but we are pleasantly surprised. Our mission is to get in front of many people, so this show has been great.” — Nick Sheridan, Cerno, Irvine, Calif.
“We’ve generated very good leads at this year’s [2021] BDNY. Energy is up with a lot of interested people—plus a lot of decision makers and principals. — Kerri Albaba, operations manager, Marc Phillips Rugs
“It was a smaller crowd this year, but we saw more serious clients. The people here are serious. I love the New York location. Hospitality is on the rise.” — Sam Kahn (pictured, left), outside regional sales, Pollack Weitzman, N.Y.
“The volume of traffic at BDNY was surprisingly good and it exceeded our expectations. This show feels like we are back on track. People are here because they want to be, and the quality of the attendee is high. We will absolutely be back next year…I will say that I would like to see the show rotate to a different large city every year such as Dallas, Nashville, or Atlanta.” — Greg Cremeans, divisional vice president, Tempur Sealy International, Lexington, Ky.
“The show has been fantastic—really outstanding. We are very happy. We are seeing all types of attendees, but there are many decision makers. The show has been just as great or greater than previous years.” — Babs Tankersley, Kriskadecor
“We were really impressed with BDNY. The turnout was excellent. The quality of the attendees was excellent. We come back every year and we like the New York location.” — Anne Buch, president, EEC Industries, N. Vancouver
“The show has been good and we’ve had a lot of great interactions and conversations with opportunities to work together on projects. Attendees have been a mixed batch of everything from students to heads of resorts. We attend BDNY every year and we will be back.” — Alex Loaiza, regional sales director, Jaclo, Cranford, N.J.
